What to Expect
Since the marathon is a huge event in Chicago, it will affect the traffic patterns across the city. We recommend our residents to prepare for potential delays and consider alternate routes.
Key Road Closures
Starting on October 9 and extending through the weekend, here’s a breakdown of the street closures:
- Wednesday, October 9:
- Jackson Dr. from Columbus Dr. to DuSable Lake Shore Drive will close at 10 a.m., reopening on Monday, October 14 at 6 a.m.
Thursday, October 10:
- Balbo Dr. from Michigan Ave. to Columbus Dr. will close at 4 a.m. and reopen on Monday, October 14 at 3 p.m.
- Columbus Dr. from Ida B. Wells to Roosevelt Rd. will also close at 4 a.m. and reopen at the same time.
Friday, October 11:
- Multiple closures will take effect, including:
- Columbus Dr. from Monroe to Jackson St. (4 a.m. – Oct 13 at 8 p.m.)
- Congress Plaza (Van Buren St. to Harrison St.) (4 a.m. – Oct 13 at 8 p.m.)

Sunday, October 13 (Race Day):
